We made a day trip from Everett, across the Mukilteo ferry to Whidbey Island, to Deception Pass State Park and back JUST SO WE COULD HAVE LUNCH AT THE BBQ JOINT! I'm from Kansas City and can tell you that these guys speak fluent BBQ!

I was out for a ride today with nowhere in mind to go, as I got into Oak Harbor I decided to turn on Midway, that's when I saw your place.

I'm from Texas and will almost never pass a BBQ joint without stopping. In WA I'm usually somewhat dissapointed, not enough smoke, meat is too tough, sausage tastes like a hot dog, drowned in sauce etc... Since I had already eaten I ordered to go, 1 lb of Brisket and 1 lb of sausage. I finished my ride and got to work.

When I opened the boxes of BBQ I was pleasantly suprised. It looked like Texas BBQ! I took a bite of the the Brisket (which was properly cut) and Oh boy I closed my eyes and thought I was back in Texas Hill Country. The sausage was spot on too. I'm not to much af a sauce guy, but I tried yours and it was excellent.

My intent was to share with 4 of my co workers. I stashed half away just for me and let everyone else try the rest.

Needless to say eveyone who tried wanted directions and got them. You truely have the best BBQ I've tasted outside of Texas and better than most in Texas.

Great job. I can't wait to get back to try the rest.

Wow! The brisket and other goodies from the BBQ Joint were a huge hit at our Command Christmas Party! Everyone kept asking where the BBQ was from so you should have a slew of new customers!

I am from San Antonio Texas originally, and I am used to Bill Miller's famous BBQ (Bill Miller BBQ) , so I know my BBQ very well...not to mention I weigh 300 pounds :-)

I consider myself an expert on food and did some food reviews for an online website back in 1996. I lived in Oak Harbor for 10 years before I moved to Bellingham in 2002. One weekend I came to pick up my son for visitation and I was really early so I drove around town for memories sake and happened to find this new joint. After my very first bite of literally the most tender and moist beef brisket I have ever had, my eyes must have popped open like half dollars. The flavor made my mouth explode, and the texture was divine! I was so shocked that I had to walk up to the counter and tell the owner that his was the first BBQ better than Bill Miller's, but not just better, somehow much better. Unlike Bill Miller's this place uses a high pressure smoker that makes the meat fall apart, it is simply amazing.

The next time I went back, I had the three meat platter and the chicken and sausage were equally amazing! I have just never had BBQ at this level, there are no words to describe it, seriously! I told my boss about it and he drove down and tried it and he was so impressed with the sausage, that he bought 10 pounds of it for a soup cook-off at our work, and he won! I wonder why :-)

Just when I thought that they couldn't get any better, they have recently come out with a new side dish - Collard Greens! Yes, you heard me right, but these are like nothing you will ever experience. They take 50 pounds of greens, brisket, sausage, and other awesome goodies and cook it slowly down overnight and they reduce it to 25% of it's original volume! This stuff is so good that my very picky son said that these are the very best vegetables he has ever eaten.

To wrap this up, I never thought I could give a BBQ joint a 5 star rating, but I'm afraid that even five stars doesn't do this place justice!

You couldn't have done a better job making my husband's birthday party a great success. The food was absolutely fantastic, delicious, yummy - everything it could be and everyone enjoyed it completely.

I was so worried about there being enough and it being warm when it got here, but all my fears were unnecessary as you do the "perfect catering service." I would recommend you to anyone planning an event. We had 30+ people, ordered for 26 and had left-overs the next day for the out-of-towners who were back the next day.

Being a fan of good BBQ, I'm always looking for a new place and truth be told, it seems Washington is lacking in this department. The BBQ Joint more than makes up for it. The portions are very generous, the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed, but the food... the food is incredible! Tender brisket and juicy ribs that melt in your mouth. All basted in a rich tasting BBQ sauce. I had the potato salad and baked beans as sides and they were just as tasty. The staff (owners) are very friendly. It made me feel like I was talking to family. I highly recommend this place to anyone who not only lives on Whidbey Island, but to anyone who appreciates great BBQ. This place has got you covered.

This is my first time reviewing a business here, but after our experience I HAD to comment. After spending a few hours on Whidbey Island (Deception Pass) we checked out the local restaurants in Oak Harbor, WA and the BBQ Joint popped up. We pulled in, and weren't really sure what to expect. Upon waling in, we were greeted by the kindest employees I have seen in a LONG time. Promptly asked what they would recommend as a first timer, and they suggested the 2 meat platter with 2 sides. I ordered the port ribs and beef brisket with baked beans and meat chili (meat with a side of meat). All I can say is AMAZING!The smokiness wasn't over powering, and the sauce was delightful. My only regret is not knowing about this amazing down home restaurant in WA. We will definately make the drive to the BBQ Joint again, and even after we move, each visit will include this diamond. If you wanna find out what great bbq can be, and taste the house wine of the south (sweet tea) then you really MUST go visit Oak Harbor, WA and the BBQ Joint. They have set the bar on what good BBQ should be.
